Wazuka-cha
Wazuka is a town in Uji, Kyoto. This very small town produces up to half of the tea produced in Kyoto. Not only does it make a great amount of the renown, high-quality Uji-cha, it is also part of the "Union of the Most Beautiful Villages in Japan" and promotes its beautiful scenery of "Chagenkyo".
Japonica Lodge has partnership with a cafe owned by the town, and specifically provides Wazuka-cha (tea made in Wazuka). We offer by far the most types of Wazuka-cha in the Kanto area so please stop by to enjoy the scent and flavor of some of the best teas in Japan. (Menu is shown below).
Japanese green tea is proven to be very healthy and beneficial for the body, brain, and soul. Try it, not only as a delicious drink, but also as part of your healthy diet!!
Enjoy the Fragrance
At Japonica Lodge, you can brew your own hot tea with traditional utensils to enjoy the beautiful scent of Wazuka-cha. The staff will detailedly instruct how to blew your tea. Please feel free to ask us.
Enjoy the Taste
All of our cold drinks are served so ice cubes do not water down the tea. For Gyokuro and Kabusecha, we even make the ice cubes out of the same tea so that even when they melt, the taste will not change. You will not have to worry about the taste watering down; you will always get the full flavor.
As for hot tea, the tea leaves of Gyokuro are so soft that you can eat them after enjoying several cups of tea. We serve it with Ponzu (vinegar soy sauce). It's cost efficient, and delicious!
Enjoy the Location
The cafe is located right beside Sumida Park, where you can see the sky tree. On sunny days, we keep the doors open and provide outdoor seats. On days when there are festivals at the park, you can see the active atmosphere while enjoying your tea. Below are some examples of festivals and events held near Japonica Lodge.
